Job Opportunities at YGP PROGRAM INSTRUCTORS: The Youth Garden Project seeks two creative, organized and hard-working program instructors who are passionate about gardening, teaching outdoors and having fun with children ages 6-11. Program instructors teach our garden classroom fieldtrips, after-school programs and summer camp. Program instructors serve as AmeriCorps members from March through November approximately 32 hours per week (can vary by season), and earn a living stipend of $6,750 and an education award of $2,362 at completion of service. Youth Garden Project AmeriCorps Program is seeking garden apprentices. Serve at the Youth Garden Project site assisting the head gardener with all aspects of growing on a two-acre organic farm. Will also assist with distribution of produce at the Farmers’ Market & creation of value-added food products. Additional responsibilities include assisting with the Youth Garden Project summer camp, which provides youth between the ages of 6 and 11 with fun, educational opportunities for 10 weeks of the summer. Applicants must be 17 years of age. If you are interested in learning about organic gardening, sustainable agriculture, entrepreneurship, business management, environmental stewardship, the outdoors, or teaching, we encourage you to apply. Compensation is $2,700 for the term of service (450 hrs. total), with an education award of $1,250 at completion of the term of service. AmeriCorps service looks great on college & job applications.
